Day 1 – Hong Kong – Bali – Uluwatu

Monday 2nd March 2020

Single Fin Resturaunt

Up @ 6.30 am, got ready, and headed to the airport. The flight was at 10 am so got a Starbucks while I waited. The flight was quite empty. I worked on my PowerPoints for work for a few hours, had a nap, and landed at 3 pm. Immigration and all was fine. I got an airport transfer from KLOOK, it was 60hkd and the sim card was 40hkd… so good! I stopped in the shop before I went to meet JEN!!!! Got to Waroeng Surya Homestay in Uluwatu. It was in between the surf beach and the temple. It was very hot when I arrived and the aircon in the room was not great!

Surfer spotting 🙂

Great to see Jen, we chilled for a bit and walked to Single Fin. It is a cafe/bar/surf shop on top of the cliffs, so pretty. It was busy and full of surfers! We watched the sunset and all the surfers on the waves. I got so many bites up there ****insect repellent needed!! We got some pizza and salad and walked back. It took 20 minutes on a pitch-black road so defo wouldn’t advise this or do this again haha! We were home around 9. Bed around 11. I roped Jen into watching The Stranger!!

Some food at Single Fin
The walk down to the beach.
A strong current here!

Day 2 – Bali – Uluwatu

Tuesday 3rd March 2020

Cliff walk views
The Cliff walk in Ulawatu

We got up at 8 am and we went down to the beach for a swim. It was rocky and it was a tiny little cove but also so pretty. You have to walk down loads of steps to get to it. Then we walked back to the main road with cute little cafes and shops. We had brekkie in our hotel, fruits, coffee, and pancakes, yum. Stayed there for the day – got a load of work done! I recorded so many lessons and then had a nap! Had a shower, great showers in the place. I went for a walk to the Uluwatu temple at 4.30 pm. It took 20mins, it was 50,000 in and the views were so incredible! There were so many monkeys around. There was a nice cliff walk, it reminded me of the Cliffs of Moher.

The Kecak Dance

We went to the dance show by the temple from 6-7 pm. It is called KECAK DANCE. It was so cool by the cliffs and the sunset. I would defo recommend it! All the chanting and different costumes. We went for dinner just by the temple called Bejana – it was nice. Some dishes were cold but the curry was FAB. We walked back home by 9.30, again very dark and windy roads so defo needed to be careful! Sleep by 11ish.

What a backdrop

Day 3 – Uluwatu – Canggu

Wednesday 4th March 2020

Villa Del Mar…wow

Up at 7.30, me and Jen went for a wee run down to the temple and back! Like 5km or something, a little hilly but was nice. We packed and had brekkie at 10. Then we got a GRAB taxi to Canggu. It cost 235,000. Oh my god, we reached our Villa Del Mar in Canggu and it was fab!! There were all little thatched private bungalows, the beds were spacious and comfy. We had a kitchenette, a big bathroom, and a lovely pool out front. We chilled for a bit in the room and I went to a Vinyasa Yoga class at 2.30 pm and it was so perfect. It was in Serenity Spa and it was 200K for a class plus a one-hour massage wow!

I got back around 4, changed and went to ZIN cafe for an hour for coffee and some more chill time. Jen came and met me when she finished work and we walked along the beach NELAYAN towards FINN’s BEACH CLUB. It was very cool – like party central if you wanted that. There were all different ages there too. We had wine + cocktails by the beach and amazing food, salad, and zaatar pizza. We walked back along the beach and went to Big Mermaid for a beer and a game of double rummy (a card game). Acoustic music was playing and it was lovely. We got back home at 11, and had a cuppa and bed! Great day!

The Yoga Studio
Food at Zin cafe
Lovely bar with live music and very chill.
Double rummy time!

Day 4 – Canggu

Thursday 5thMarch 2020

Up at 8 am. We had a GILS class at 8.30 in Canggu Studio – like a Brazilian Dance Place. This lady focused on ass, legs, and stomach haha!! She was about 50 and so toned. They were all small moves with a weighted band, bands, and ankle weights. It was all hip thrusts and sit-ups lol. Back for brekkie at 10 – they deliver to the room, fab! I went for a massage at 11 for 1 hour. It was a full-body one and it was glorious!! She cracked my neck and back, Christ!! I got back at 12ish and went for a swim, then went to ZIN cafe to Jen and had eggs on sourdough yum. Went strolling for a bit and went to VIDA cafe for a smoothie. Jen met me at 7 and we went for dinner and went to a Mexican bar for a margarita. The street parallel was fab. Home by 11ish and bed!

Our little villa at night

Day 5 – Canggu – Seminyak

Friday 6th March 2020

Up at 8.30 – Jen woke me as I was conked!! We ran to Bali Fitness for a class at 9 am. It was really busy but ended up being a really good class. He made us run, do bear crawls, and frog jumps. Then 5 ROUNDS of this intense AMRAP which involved burpee box jumps and wall climbs haha. So made our way back to our villa! We packed up and got our transfer at 12.30 to go to Seminyak. Got there about 1.30 and settled in. I went to The KOOP – which was a little rustic cafe where I sat upstairs and filled in a holiday Excel sheet … exciting lol! I got back to our hotel at 4 pm, got ready and walked to La Plancha (where all the colorful umbrellas were on the beach… so so so pretty)!! We had rose wine and beers, there was a MASSIVE thunderstorm so we ran inside for shelter! Then went to KU DA TA for a cocktail – it was nice and then off to MOTEL MEXICOLA at 8.30 for our big night out lol! The food was delish and the atmosphere was fab. About 900hkd for everything so it is expensive enough. We had a dance downstairs, with all the cheesy music, great fun! Then went to La Favella…also so much fun there, danced all night. It is a massive dance bar with good music, such a different range of people there and so many different areas. Home at 2 am!!

Day 6 – Seminyak

Saturday 7th March 2020

Awake at 10, chilled morning, and brekkie in bed…fab! Then went to the gym for a bit. Went for a swim and a stroll around Seminyak. Went to Sister Fields for food, it is a cool place but small portions and is a little overpriced. Went strolling and shopping all while Je was working away! We went to Ginger Root for a drink and nachos and then to an Italian restaurant called Ultimo for the best pizza and pasta and a bottle of red for 400hkd!! We had a nightcap in this bar where you sit on the steps, I can’t remember the name now but it was a cool people-watching spot!

Day 7 – Seminyak

Sunday 8th March 2020

Wow, had a great sleep. Woke at 10 haha!! Got up and got ready and went to a really cute cafe for coffee and brekkie, forget the name! They make their own coffee, anyway, I stayed there for ages and did some lesson planning! I went and bought some skirts, dresses, and tops! Then I went to a place called Body Works for a scalp detox and a massage, amazing! I got a hair treatment and all!! Then went to Loccl on the beach for a bruschetta and went for dinner at The Junction House. Got a chicken salad. Went back to the Harris Hotel and bed at 11ish. Jens’s flight was earlier in the day. I was staying an extra day.

Day 8 – Seminyak – Hong Kong

Monday 9th March 2020

I got up at 9 am. Popped to the gym and got all packed up and went to the lovely cafe for coffee and takeaway. It was across the road from the Harris! I went to the airport at 1 for my flight at 4 pm. There was an American couple beside me and I watched the Andy Murry documentary. Had dinner and banana ice cream on the flight! I was back in Hong Kong at about 9 pm, no queues, and home 10! Another great sneaky trip. I reckon we won’t be able to leave Hong Kong for a while now!!!
